About the charity event

The Empowering the Community event is an extension of a Black Elk Energy initiative launched earlier this year to assist low income families with their utility bills.  Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships (LACAP), which assists over 600,000 households each year.  The funds from this event will enable LACAP in weatherizing homes of low income families, building a new energy conservation vocational training center to train the underemployed.

Nationally, Community Action Partnerships weatherized some 126,000 homes last year.  Empowering the Community will make an immediate and lasting impact in terms of reducing energy costs while increasing the quality of life of the community.
