THE CHARITY
The Empowering the Community charity event is a cooperative effort between the Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships (LACAP) and Black Elk Energy. Net proceeds from the event will support LACAP in programs that include subsidizing home energy bills for qualifying households, investing in home weatherization projects, and the establishment and maintenance of a vocational training center for low income residents. LACAP strives to elevate the social and economic standards of Louisiana’s economically disadvantaged residents through 42 Community Action Agencies statewide, serving all 64 parishes of the State of Louisiana. Each year the agencies of LACAP assist over 650,000 Louisiana residents.

LACAP's three major functions are:
- To provide an organization through which all Community Action Agencies can work together to further the goals and objectives of said organization;
- To bring about more effective cooperation between Community Action Agencies and other agencies that have similar objectives; and
- To participate in and strengthen the professional organizations of the Community Action Agencies.
2009 CONTRIBUTION AND THIS YEAR'S GOAL
Last year Black Elk Energy was able to present a check to LACAP for over $50,000, and this year the goal is to more than double that amount!
